The Wonder Woman article pretty much sums up how I feel about her. That plus what Greg Rucka put on my comics that I asked for him to sign - "She helps us to remember hope."
It also reminded me of what Marv Wolfman's said about the relationship between Donna, Kory, and Raven when he first started working on the Teen Titans. Kory's on one end of the spectrum, Raven's on the other, and Donna is the bridge between them.
I started to put down "emotional spectrum," but there's more to it than that. Sure, Kory is sensual and outgoing, and Raven is celibate and introspective. But it's just as valid to point out that Kory was born a child of privilege (a princess) who grew up being cherished and celebrated by those around her, and Raven was born a child of shame (being the daughter of a demon and a human woman) who grew up being told she had to control herself at all times or else her father's evil would take over.
"In the 40s, it was common sense to put the two most popular heroes – Batman and Superman – into a comic book together. That comic book was World’s Finest, and that is still the term by which the two of them are collectively known. The symbol of hope. The symbol of justice. Together. Frank Miller in his Dark Knight Returns went to great lengths to shatter their partnership. To this day he is proud of being the man responsible for ending the friendship of Batman and Superman.
thank you, the friendship between these three has always been one of the greatest things, that's why I loved the last wonder woman that was about nothing but her relationship with superman over the years.
Wonder Woman is more complex than either of them in this respect. She is a symbol of peace, but a warrior nonetheless. She’s a symbol of light who is unafraid to resort to darker methods if need be. But the three of them together are something amazing. Something magic. Each of them, alone, can achieve the incredible. Together, they can do the impossible.
he did a very good job of putting his finger on exactly how I feel.
