Black Knight One is one of a few original characters in the Watchtower Community. Although he has never been in a single comic book, he has his own history that goes back almost 14 years. He originally was a character created by two people to play in a role playing game called "Marvel Super Heroes". I can't guess why Slater is still around, but he has had many names in the past. He started out as Knightstick, then when to Vigilance and only recently has become Black Knight One. He started out as a Federal Marshal who specialized in Powered Criminal recovery and worked for a man named Johnathan Ralsmith. He became Vigilance after his identiy as Knightstick was compromised in a battle with the Taskmaster(a Marvel villian). Slater was forced to remove his mask that had been hit with one of Taskmaster's putty arrows. Slater was one of a group of characters played by a group of friends who have all unfortunately gone thier own ways. As a personal note, I am very glad to be able to still play this character with a good friend.

On Black Knight One's user info is a time line for the character in the Watchtower universe. I wanted to do two things with this character in the Watchtower. One, not be a wise cracking, regenerating gun bunny, the world has it's fill of those. Two, to have fun, which I can say I am doing very well.

Slater is not a hero, and not really a villian.  If anything he is in transition and the war of good and evil is playing out in his heart.  On one side he is the tool of a Government run by a ruthless man. He commits acts of violence in the name of national security and accepts his role without guilt or question.  A role he accepted knowing that he would be mentally conditioned to obey every order from Amanda Waller.  The other half of him still has the experience of meeting and working with the Teen Titans.  An experience that reminded him what it was like to be free and honest with people.  An experience that has caused him to regret the things he has done in the past, and hope for a better future.

Slater made his first appearence July 4th, 2004.  (That's right folks...born on the Fourth of July.  Oracle could we mark that as Jack Slater's date of Birth?) He was assigned to take down the House and bring Roulette to justice.  To do that he kidnapped Green Arrow's son, and set a bomb on Lain's(Arsenal's daughter) school room chair.  Later he got assigned by the President himself to investigate the Teen Titans and test kyrptonite on Superboy.  However, Slater did not count on how meeting Starfire and Hugo would make him feel.  He later, disobeyed orders to help out in the rescue of Starfire. The government declared Slater a traitor for real and sent him to prison.  Amanda Waller however had other plans and is going to be using him as a member of the Suicide Squad.  Recently Slater was assigned by Checkmate to bring in Two Face and rescue Renee Montoya.  Later instead of reporting back to Amanda Waller, Slater made his escape across country and is currently in Montana.

Garfield Mark Logan("Gar")/Beast Boy

Garfield Logan was the child of two scientists, Mark and Marie Logan, who were infected with a rare tropical disease called Sakutia.
His father, desperate to save his infant son, used an experimental machine to isolate the shared gene between Humans and animals.

Gar recovered, but a side effect turned his skin to a green pigment.
A few years later, Marie Logan was threatened by a deadly Black Mamba snake, Gar's desire to rescue his mother bringing forth his powers, changing him into a mongoose to save her from the attacking animal.

Several years later, his parents died in a boating accident, an incident which Gar still feels he could have prevented in some way, shape or form.

After his parents' death, he returned to the United States, where, after a brief career as a young child star on a television show, he became a Titan.

A few years and several missions later, Gar's newest challenge is to help the newest Teen Titans fit into the same place he once was, young, uncertain, yet offering promise in their abilities to help to change the world for the better.

So far in the [livejournal.com profile] jla_watchtower universe, Gar has been nearly attacked by [livejournal.com profile] starfire_kory 's evilly aggressive yet somehow well-meaning "cousin-in-law" [livejournal.com profile] pharras for being a smart-alec(with poor [livejournal.com profile] hugo_clone taking the brunt of Pharras' annoyed aggression, ending up in Blüdhaven as the others find out too late to stop Pharras from leaving Earth with a pregnant Kory hostage, Gar's first idea after "babysitting" the Tower being to change the security system to better suit his psyche after the mission to get Kory and Luum safely back to Earth was a success), changed pigment from Green to White (losing his ability as a heavy price to be "normal") and back to Green again (and learning a few things along the way from his choices, and a lot about who he is), and he managed to also replace a damaged television he and Bart inadvertantly smashed. Again.

This has been but a brief overview of Gar's life thus far. For a very detailed look into his life, see "Titans Tower" and "It's Not Easy Being Green".

The first noted post has been found to be August 29th 2004, his first appearance was giving Pharras the kind of grief over the simple act of entering another's premises that even Mormons aren't subjected to (usually).

(In eerie and funny coincidence, August the 29th is also "Terminator 2"'s "Judgement Day", "The Terminator" starting on the Mun's birthday. Strange coincidences indeed.)

Green Arrow: DC's Emerald Archer

Green Arrow is (as the icon above will attest) Oliver Queen, famous citizen of Star City, one time rich-kid socialite and current philanthropist. In between those two, he spent more than a few years dirt-poor, the result of a crooked business manager. In that time, he acquired a great sense of social justice, and was for a long time the "voice of the left-wing" within the JLA. But I digress.

When Oliver Queen was stranded on a desert island, the only thing that saved his life was the skills with a bow he had picked up in his youth. When smugglers landed on his desert island, he was able to stop them with his bow and use their boat to escape. Inspired by this event, he became the Green Arrow, fighting injustice in his home of Star City and throughout the world, along with his ward, Speedy. He later became one of the earliest members of the Justice League of America (though not a founder), and struck up both a lasting friendship with Green Lantern Hal Jordan and a tempestuous romance with Dinah Lance, the Black Canary. Speedy helped found the Teen Titans.

Tragedies struck Ollie in series: he lost his fortune, resigned the JLA in frustration at his perception that they ignored the little guy in favor of globe-spanning threats, and discovered his ward Roy Harper was addicted to speed. Ollie became disenchanted with the life of a hero, but a cross-country journey with Hal and Dinah restored his sense of perspective, and kept him from hanging up his bow (though he nearly did, briefly entering a Zen monastery).

The next big event in Ollie's life was when he and Dinah moved to Seattle from Star City. It was a dark and conflicted time in both their lives, plagued by Ollie's philandering and by the violence that had so brutally intruded on their life together. Eventually the pair split up, and Ollie faded into the background. He went into a state of semi-retirement, spending a great deal of time at the Zen monastery he once retreated to, where he met a young man named Connor Hawke.

What finally dragged GA out into the limelight again was the temporal crisis known as Zero Hour. He stood with the other heroes in their search to discover the cause of the crisis, and when the mastermind was revealed as none other than Ollie's old friend Hal Jordan in the guise of Parallax, he did what he had to do, and fired the arrow that stopped Parallax and ended his life.

After this, Ollie took young Connor under his wing and began to train him. Unfortunately, Ollie fell in with a radical group called the Eden Corps. When he realized that they intended to detonate a mutagenic weapon over Metropolis, Ollie gave his life to dave the city. His shoes were filled by Connor, who turned out to be Oliver Queen's own son!

Ollie was 'reborn', thanks to Hal Jordan, who had become the Spectre in his afterlife. Ollie's one request was that his soul be allowed to stay in heaven, and his reborn self be spared the memories of "the dark years". This caused a lot of confusion and consternation among his old friends and associates, since Ollie seemed to think it was still the 80s. Finally, Oliver was forced by the plot of an evil old man, Stanley Dover, to return to his body lest Stanley use it in an unholy and Satanic scheme for eternal life (see the Quiver graphic novel for details). Dover was defeated, and Ollie was back, and with Stanley's fortune at his fingertips. Also included in the package were Connor and Mia Dearden, an underage prostitute that Dover and Queen had taken in.

Ollie went through a lot getting his life straightened out. He briefly reunited with Dinah, only to 'put things on hold' when it became obvious that they couldn't overcome their past history. They remained friends and close associates, however. Connor was nearly killed by a vigilante hunter dubbed Onomatopeia, and Mia was inspired to teach herself both the bow and the rudimentaries of super-heroing, in spite of Ollie's protests. When Ollie was investigating a case of monsters and murders on a construction site, he briefly became involved with Joanna Pierce, niece to Jefferson Pierce, the former superhero Black Lightning and currently Lex Luthor's secretary of defense. Joanna later died, and Ollie began to berate himself both for cheating on Dinah and for causing the young woman's death.
